Volunteers Needed!

We can't do our work without volunteers!  While we've identified some immediate volunteer needs, we appreciate hearing from people about how they'd like to give back to the community by using their specific skills and talents.  Call 293-2222 ext. 18 for more information.  Click here for the FOCUS volunteer flyer.

Flea Market:  We appreciate volunteers to help stocking and assisting customers each week, Wednesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  You can volunteer for a short shift or a whole day! 

Front Desk Receptionist:  needed afternoons 1:30-4:30.  Greet clients, answer phone calls, and make referrals for services.  You'll be trained on how to access many of the great resources in our area.  Great opportunity for someone who wants to learn more about the Charlottesville community.

Mentors:  work with either our GEMS (Girls Empowered to Make Success) prevention program, or to work with our pregnant and parenting teens.  Activities range from helping with transportation, to giving presentations, to working creatively with staff to ensure unique program delivery.

The In-School Pregnant and Parenting Teen Program could use donations to support teen mothers!  Whether it be by purchasing baby supplies during your next grocery visit, or by donating money to help pay for childcare stipends, there's a way you can help keep these girls in school!

Want to help make a difference to one person?  Sponsor a high school teen mom!  FOCUS provides childcare stipends for teen mothers to help them get through high school.  Some girls do not graduate high school because they can't afford childcare.  Children of high school dropouts are likely to become dropouts themselves, and high school dropouts have almost double the unemployment rate as high school graduates.  You can sponsor a girl for a day ($15), week ($75), month ($300), or school year ($2700).  You can not only make a difference for a girl, but for her child.  Please click on the "donate" button on the right to make a tax-deductible contribution.
